Good Deals, Sneak Peek, & I'm a Winner!!!!

So.....today I rode with my mom to get her hair cut and then we went to one of my favorite thrift stores! They were having their fill a bag for $5.00 clothing sale and I couldn't find anything for myself, so  stuffed a bag full to put in consignment. I should make at least 5 times what I paid, so that was a good deal! I did however, find a couple purses for myself. I am in love with both of them and they are both like new! One is Fossil and I paid $5.29 for it and the other one has no name in it, but is too cute with it's aqua blue trim and it was only $1.29. Neither look like they have been used much at all...:) When we left, we went by the $ General and I found a really cute black and white cloth shower curtain to use for my makeshift closet I am putting in my classroom! This will save me having to use a lot of my awesome chevron fabric and I can put it to better use making a desk skirt for my desk instead! Here are a couple pics of my finds!

Next up is a sneak peek at an item I repurposed this week. You can see it on next week's Monday Made It!

And last, but certainly not least! I was truly ecstatic when I checked my e-mail late last night and found out that I am a giveaway winner! (see the image below) I had to bite my tongue to keep from squealing with joy so I wouldn't wake my hubby up! You can read about it over at Adventures in Room 5! Thanks so much Cassandra! You would think I had won the lottery....:) I can't wait to do my next giveaway!

Be Blessed!

My Teacher Story & a 2nd Versatile Blogger Award!

I'm linking up with Janaye over at Tales of Frogs & Cupcakes for this:

I'm sharing mine and can't wait to read about your teacher stories too! Unlike a lot of you, I didn't go to college after high school. Instead, I got married at the ripe old age of 19 and started a family. I wanted to be a stay at home mom and I was for several years. I had Miranda a week before my first anniversary and Dakota close to 6 years later. When he was old enough to go to pre-k, I decided I wanted to go to school too! I loved volunteering at my daughter's school and decided teaching was the thing for me! I always enjoyed school and I loved teaching my own kids things when they were little. I have also always loved school supplies, creating, crafting, decorating,  and back to school shopping, so I thought I might as well pursue a career in teaching and have the best of both worlds.....doing something I love and having time off with my own kids during holidays, summers, etc. So....when Dakota headed off to preschool, I headed off to college! I graduated at the top of my class 5 years later ! I am entering year 10 of my teaching career, but this is where it started......my first job was teaching in a behavior unit....these were kids that hadn't been successful in a regular class and had been placed in this "special" class. They ranged in age from 3rd-8th grade! This was a very difficult job for a newbie teacher....the range of grade levels, kids with undesirable behavior, and ALL boys! Thank goodness there was only a few of them! Anywho, a few weeks into the school year, my principal called me into his office to tell me he was opening another 3rd grade unit and asked me if I was interested in it. Of course I jumped on it because 3rd grade was where I had interned and the grade level I wanted. It was a huge transition for the kids being moved into my class but fortunately it all worked out. This class was not needed the next year because the numbers dropped, so I was asked to move to 1st grade. This was the grade I had said I never wanted to teach, but I went because I needed a job! I absolutely fell in love with first grade and was there for the next 6 years! There is something about watching firsties grow through the year.....it's amazing! The next year, I was ready for a change so I worked as guidance counselor after the GC at my school was hired as the assistant principal. They were willing to let someone work on their degree while working as GC so I interviewed and got the job. It was.....ok, but my heart was in the classroom. I had been feeling like I was supposed to work with teens, so I talked to the HS principal (we only have 1 HS, 1 middle, and 2 elementary schools) and she hired me to teach biology. That is where I was last year....teaching out of field. I loved the high school students, and was planning to stay and teach English this year, however a new rule kept that from happening. I could not teach out of field a second year. That left me with no time to study for, take & pass the English 9-12 subject area exam, so I am back to elementary! Exhausting I know! I will be teaching 5th grade science this year and am over the moon excited! I think it will be the best of both worlds.....my kiddos will be old enough to tie their shoes and wipe their noses but still sweet and not quite as obsessed with cell phones, drama,  and foul language like high schoolers. Our 5th graders change classes and I loved that part of high school. I am now teaching in the other elementary school in our district which is new for me, but I am really looking forward to this new adventure....:) What's your story?

Here are a couple pics from my first grade classroom.....:)

On to the 7 random facts! I am trying to put 7 different ones....if you want to see the first 7, click here.

1. I can't stand to wear socks!  Fortunately I live in Florida and don't have to wear socks often!

7. I own a beautiful Hammersley Victorian Violets tea pot that my favorite aunt gave me a few years ago. It belonged to my uncle's mom. I have many other beautiful pieces of china too....but this is my favorite piece!

My 3rd Monday Made It!!! (And a sweet giveaway!)

I don't know about you all, but I've been busy making stuff! Monday Made It is my absolute favorite linky because I love making stuff! Be sure to link up with Tara over at 4th grade Frolics and show us all what you made! Here are the things I made this week...

~1~

These are my pencil cans...I bought the little buckets in the Target $ spot and made the dots and letters with my Cricut! Another project was the duct tape pencil flags for my pencils that I let the students borrow. Cupcakes for the girls and flames for the boys!

~2~

This is my EZ grader stand. One of the dear (now retired) teacher friends made this for me a few years ago. She was so handy with wood and saws! I stuck a small piece of scrapbook paper in it so you can see how it works. I repainted it and added some cute lettering to it for this year!

~3~

This is my teacher toolbox! Pinterest inspired of course from this awesome teacher blog! I used a slightly different box than most but this one was bigger and only a few dollars more. I added a few rhinestones to mine too which you can see in the close-up pic!

~4~

This one was super easy and I''m not in love with it, but it will do! I used scrapbook stickers for this one. It's my  hi-liter bucket (Target $ spot again) that I will put next to my turn-in basket for the kids to highlight their names before they turn in their papers. I used the hi-liter spelling from the Avery brand markers and it looks wrong to me, but it was shorter and fit the can better.

~5~

Next up is my hall pass sign. I took a board I already had that I didn't like and decoupaged squares of scrapbook paper on it. The lettering was written with glue and covered in black glitter (do yourself a favor and be patient enough for the mod podge to COMPLETELY dry before you sprinkle glitter over it! I made a mess and there are still flecks of black glitter all over it, but you can only see it close up!) I haven't decided if I am going to use these glittered clothespins or plain painted ones yet.

~6~

Last up is a home made it.....The four small frames you see were all yard sale finds....well actually everything on the wall was found at a yard sale or thrift store! The larger two matching frames were a quarter each and the other two were about the same (I've had them for a while and don't remember). For the two biggest ones, I took a cute card and a chevron print zipper bag from the Target $ spot and cut them to fit. The other two were made from a cupcake box and cupcake liners that I had on hand. I loved the graphic designs and knew they would be cool in the frames. What do you think? I have a couple more things to add to this wall so next week it will probably look a little different...:)

And before I go.....

I wanted to tell you about an awesome giveaway too! Cassandra over at Adventures in Room 5 is giving away some sweet goodies to celebrate getting 100 followers! Click above & check it out!

Be blessed....:)

Sweet Sunday....:)

I just love Sundays! How about you? My Sunday started off with getting ready for Sunday School & church a little earlier than usual. I had to get to church early to drop my son, Dakota off so he could head out to Cherokee, North Carolina with his youth group for their annual mission trip.
Every summer they become

You can read about what World Changers does here. I am so proud of my son for participating in this worthwhile mission every year.. This makes his 5th year I believe. My daughter went every summer as well until she graduated high school. I went with them one summer and it was an awesome experience....one I'll never forget!
Here's a picture of my Dakota and his sweet girlfriend Summer.....:)
She just got back from her WC mission trip a couple weeks ago.

After I dropped him off, my sister and I went for breakfast and then I went to Sunday School and church. I <3 my church family! After church, I came home and spent the afternoon with my hubby, Joey. We went and ate a late lunch with my mom and dad and then came home and spent a lazy afternoon listening to the rain and thunderstorm. I also finished up a couple projects for Monday Made It. I am looking forward to the linky party tomorrow!
Anywho....hope you all enjoyed your Sunday as much as I did...:)
Be blessed!

Fabric Order & an AWESOME Giveaway!!!

I am so stinkin' excited about the fabric I just ordered for my classroom from this place
Here are some swatches to drool over check out!

Black & White Zig Zag by Premier Prints

I am in LOVE with the chevron prints and have been wanting to do something with it so I decided since my classroom colors are black and white with bright colors, this would be prefect!!!

Gotcha Girly Blue by Premier Prints

Forever Large Polka Dot Lime

Circles Tennessee Orange by Premier Prints

Aren't they gorgeous!!!

I also picked up a couple pieces from good old Wally World today as well. Here they are...

Sorry about the poor color quality of this one....it is a hot pink tone on tone fabric. This one, along with the four above are going to be used for curtain panels and a bunting! I have been dying to make one!

I don't have a specific project yet for this one, but I had to have it because the colors are perfect with my color scheme! There are hot pink, orange, aqua, and apple green sprinkles all over....too cute! I may make a birthday chair cover....not sure yet though! Anywho.....I wanted to share because for some reason, my dear hubby doesn't get it! Imagine that...;) He does support me in my craziness though and is always there when I need some muscles in my classroom setting up and rearranging...<3

Next up is an AWESOME 500 follower giveaway from Amanda from over at Teaching Maddeness! I am laying claim to it though because I desperately need that $50 gift card from Amazon! I really need to order these, along with a mess of other stuff! I puffy heart Amazon! Anyway, I guess you need a chance at it too, so be sure to hop on over and check it out!

My Guilty Pleasures....:)

Blog Title
I am excited to be linking up to Ashley over at The Resource Room Teacher for her 1st  Linky Party.....Guilty Pleasures!

Like everyone else, I have a few guilty pleasures....let's see!

1. Pepsi!
I absolutely love the stuff.....and not the diet or decaf! Terrible I know, but I can't help it....it's my favorite! I love to put it in the freezer and make it like an icee, but I try not to drink it too often!

2. The Big Bang Theory....my favorite sitcom!
My daughter introduced me to this hilarious cast a year or so ago and I have been hooked ever since!
They crack me up!

3. Pizookies!
I love most sweets, but I have been hooked on pizookies since having my first one at BJ's a couple years ago. I make them at home every now and then with break and bake cookie dough. My favorite is white chocolate chip & macadamia nut with a scoop of vanilla on top.....:) Haven't made them in a few months and now I am craving one really bad!!!

4. Dance Moms!
I'm not much for what I call "trash tv", and I don't watch this often, but I will watch this if I'm working in my craft room and don't have to subject my husband to the torcher. I don't know why I like it, but I do! I enjoy watching the little girls dance routines the most. I also watch a little Toddlers & Tiaras....again, I don't know why! LOL...:)

5. Chrome!
I spend entirely too much time surfing and checking the sites and blogs I love.....facebook, ProTeacher, dozens of blogs, & Pinterest! WAY too much time, but I can't help it.....there's just so many cool things to do, make, cook, copy, etc.....I can't stop myself!

Anywho.....those are my guilty pleasures, what are some of yours?

Be blessed!
