It's Just Another.......Monday Made It!

Why? Because it's that awesome time  again....time for Monday Made It! I'm excited to be linking up with Tara from 4th Grade Frolics again.....it's my favorite linky...:) I have been busy sewing for this one! I finally got to use that gorgeous fabric I ordered a few weeks ago! Here are my projects! First up is a valance for my one and only window! This is my kitchen window though....I haven't been to school since I made it. The top has tabs that I made from scraps of the colored fabrics. There are 2 of each color. I also make a skirt for my desk, but I can't get a picture of it until I go to school again (probably Wednesday) and attach it to the desk. It looks just like the valance though!

Next up is a bunting banner I made. Isn't it adorable...:) I just love it! I am making a couple more of these but I ran out of bias tape and need to pick up some more to finish!

I also recovered my desk chair! It needed an update for sure! Here is a before picture....notice the dusty base....my high school classroom floor stayed so dirty!

And here's the after! Better....don't you think?

Robyn from Soaring Through Third asked me to tell how I recovered my chair. I really wish I had thought about taking pictures of the process, but sadly I didn't! Mine was very easy to do. First, my dear hubby took it apart for me.....mine was in 5 pieces, the seat, the rolling base, the two arms, and the back. Everything screws into the bottom of the seat on my chair. OK....so now I have the seat and I just cut a piece of fabric large enough to cover the top and edges and to pull under the bottom edge and staple (with a staple gun) underneath. Next he took the little arm rest pads off and I did the same thing with them. For the back, I made a "pillow case and rounded the corners at the top to fit snugly. When I hemmed it I left a little opening so I can run a piece of ribbon through it to tie it  around the bottom. This part can be removed and washed if needed. It was so simple to do! If any of you decide to recover yours, be sure to let me know!
I would love to see pictures...:)

And to end this post....here's one of my kitties....Bashful! I just thought I'd share a little tidbit about him....he thinks if anything new or different enter the house, he HAS to lay on it or sleep in it! Here he is curled up in my sewing machine cover that fell off the table. See how sleepy his eyes look....the flash woke him up! He is one silly cat! He cracks me up though...I love my kitties!

Ok....if you haven't already, you need to go link up with the awesome and amazing Tara and show off your creations!

Be Blessed...:)

Lazy Sunday in the South, a Blog Button (finally), a Few Goodies, and an Upcoming Giveaway!

Like my picture....that's me on the right! Can somebody say couch potato!
I need a shot.....no, not a shot from the Dr or a shot of liquor, I need a shot of energy!
I have been nothing but lazy today! This folks is not a good thing seeing as how I have more to do this week than I can possibly do! Seriously....what was I thinking!!!
Oh well, I guess I just needed a break and some rest....:)

The one and only thing productive I did today was finally figure out how to put the blog button I created a couple weeks ago on my blog! I got very frustrated last time I tried and finally gave up. I decided since I was just sitting around today that I would try it again and I got it on the second try! I am so excited...:) Hopefully soon I will get brave enough to buy one of those beautiful backgrounds and redo my look! Be sure to grab it for your blog! I need to do that with all yours too!
Isn't it cute...:)

I also want to share a few goodies I bought yesterday! I went BTS shopping with my sister and my two nieces, Shelby & Taylor. We had a great time...:) Here's a picture of me with Shelby and Taylor. Shelby (on the left) is the oldest. She is starting University of Florida in a couple weeks as a freshmen. She is a biology major who plans to attend med school and become a neurologist one day! Taylor (in the middle) is a high school junior and has plans to do something in communication in missions or ministry some day! They are both such smart, sweet, & kind young ladies!
I am very proud of them!

Here are a couple new tops and a scarf I bought for work! I got really good deals on all 3 pieces. The scarf came from Old Navy at $9.95. The chevron print top was $12 and the other one was $10. They came from JC Penney's. It was tax free weekend too so I didn't have to any tax on school supplies or clothes!!!

Close-up of chevron top....I puffy heart chevron print lately!
Close-up of the scarf....yep, it's chevron too!
Of course I had to hit up the Target $ Spot while I was there! I got everything you see here except the chevron zipper pouch. It came from Old Navy for $3.50. It was too cute to pass up! I got the striped bucket, the blue container, and the two paper pads (which match my color scheme) from the $ Spot! I also picked up the cute composition book, tablecloth, and planner from Target. The planner was on sale for $6.89! It is too cute....it's not the Erin Condren one I wanted, but it will do. Besides, I needed a cheap one for now so I can decide if I like it or use it enough to justify paying for an Erin Condren planner next year!

I also wanted to let you all in on my upcoming giveaway! I reached 100 followers last week so I wanted to celebrate! I am planning to put it on sometime this week, so keep checking back! Part of the prize will be a gift card for this awesome place!

Ok.....I think I may have talked myself into removing my huge big butt from the couch and going to cut out and sew my curtain and bunting banners for tomorrow's Monday Made It! I need to do some laminating and cutting out too and the good thing is I can come back to my little nest on the couch for the cutting part...LOL! Hope you are are having a restful Sunday!

Be Blessed!

Got Science?, the Silver Snail, & the big 99!

Well.....I just couldn't resist! This is really not teaching related, but like I said, I couldn't resist!
Today after my Common Core training, my hubby and I headed up to Tallahassee (2 hours away from home) to take my daughter a new battery for her car. Hers died yesterday and she needed daddy to come to the rescue! So, anyway, we got there, picked her up from work, and went to her condo where the Silver Snail was patiently waiting for her new battery. Miranda named her the Silver Snail because she drives slower than most of her friends...:) Well, hubby replaced it and then we went to grab a bite to eat at Applebee's....I had a delicious quesadilla burger!

Miranda & the Silver Snail!
Anywho....so we're heading back to the condo, and when we stop at a red light, Miranda commented on the guy's hair in the car in front of us. She said his hair looked like this guy.....

Albert Einstein
I of course agreed! We were joking about the mad scientist look and then she notices the bumper sticker on his car! It's on the right side of the bumper....do you see it? Yep, it says Got Science? I rushed to get my camera out of my purse and pass it to Miranda in the front seat because I knew I had my blog post for today! We had a good laugh over this! You may need to enlarge the pic to see the hair and the bumper sticker. ..:) Too funny....I wish I could have seen his face! He probably wondered why the girl in the car behind him was taking a picture of his car....LOL!

Got Science?
Well, hopefully I didn't bore you to tears! I hope to have more pics of my classroom progress tomorrow. I worked in my room for a couple hours before my training, but didn't have time to snap pictures. I am working again tomorrow morning before training and hopefully I will remember before it's too late! I am ready to decorate!!! Soon.....very soon! Oh yeah....I almost forgot! I am up to 99 followers!!! This means I need to get a giveaway planned soon! Forgive me if it takes me a few days to get it all figured out....there is a lot going on right now with trying to get my room ready, prepare to teach a new grade level in a new (to me) school, and planning a graduation party for Miranda! I'll get it ready soon though! If anyone wants to contribute something from their TPT store, I would be grateful! Thanks so much for taking time to keep up with me! I so enjoy reading about your lives too!

Be Blessed...:)
