Saturday Snapshots that Made Me Smile!

Well, tomorrow's the day....the day I start with ALL my kiddos! This past week, I only had 4-6 per day for screening. I am more than a little nervous, but I am sure I will survive! I wanted to share just a couple things than made me smile this past week...:) I'm linking up for the first time ever for.....

I love Miss Nelson's blog....and her classroom makes me smile!

First up is the name mosaics I had my kiddos make. They did such a great job overall. I had a couple who just couldn't keep focused on it long enough to get it done. They look so nice hanging in the room....I love student work displayed!

This one was taken earlier in the week....there are two lines filled now!

I also wanted to share the pretty little rose one of my little sweeties brought me. This was on Friday after it had opened up, but it is still sweet. The sight of my hubby and kiddos in the background make me smile too!

Last up is my adorable little grand dog....Sadie!
My son is bringing her home as soon as she is weaned from her mom. Isn't she precious?

Look at those little wrinkles...:)

Precious...:)

Here she is with her daddy...:) Yes, my son has a Mohawk.....crazy kid! I actually like it on him though...:)

Well, I have some tacos to cook. My daughter is home from Tallahassee for the weekend and  we both love Mexican food, so we are going to satisfy our craving! Hope each of you have a fantastic week!

A Hodge Podge Post!

Well....today was my first day of kindergarten.....with students anyway! Our kinders stagger start so I only have 5-6 a day and then next Monday they all come! I had a really good day with them and am looking forward to tomorrow! I wanted to share one of the photos I took of them this morning. I love the sweet little poster I got for free from Run, Miss Nelson's Got the Camera TPT Store! Isn't it adorable? I found this gorgeous frame on my summer trip to Pennsylvania & Ohio for just $0.99 at a thrift store in Amish country. LOVE...:) My hubby spray painted it red for me and I popped the poster in it and here it is in all of its' adorableness! Not a word I know...LOL!
This little sweeties name is, believe it or not.....Heavens. Any idea what her last name might be? If you're curious, leave me a comment with your guess and I'll reply by e-mail and tell you if you guessed correctly!

Does the sight of this next photo make you smile as much as it does me?
I love the little smile shaped arrow from Amazon! I got a text earlier in the day that said my package that had been on back order had been delivered. I was excited to get home and get it!

Inside the box was another box...but it wasn't smiling at me!

A peek inside...any guesses?

Love the colors!!!

Oh my....I am in LOVE! Isn't this class set of Westcott scissors the best! Have you ever used Westcott? I used to only use Fiskars, but I tried Westcott a few years ago when they were giving away samples of their scissors and I was sold. Anywho.....while perusing Amazon a few weeks ago, these babies popped up. I loved the color coordinated cups and scissors and the carousel with the handle is just the icing on the cake.

But.....what I really loved was the price! Are you ready for it? The entire set of 24 scissors, storage cups and carousel was just $22.84 and then I got another small discount making it right around $21 and no shipping since I am a PRIME member! Excellent deal or what?

I just love it!
If you would like to order yourself a set, click here!

I am also excited about my first ever purchases from a few amazing ladies over on Teachers Pay Teachers!

I bought these from Teaching With Love & Laughter

These awesome & adorable behavior beads from Rockin' & Lovin" Learnin'!

and finally.....this from KinderCraze.

I am thrilled with all of these purchases! I am in awe of all the amazing things everyone creates and really want to try my hand at it....some day! For now, I will enjoy all the awesomeness of you creative ladies!

Hope your week is going well...tomorrow is hump day already! I am so excited for the weekend since my daughter is coming home and I haven't seen her in almost 7 weeks! I don't normally rush time, but I am so ready to see her...:) Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Until next time.....

My Monday Made It's!

Today I'm sharing over at 4th Grade Frolics for Monday Made It for the first time since last summer! I have been busy making buntings for my new kindergarten classroom as well as recovering a chair for my reading corner. I will soon be making valances to match, but have to get in my classroom to do some measuring first.

I ordered five different Riley Blake fabrics from fabric.com to use for my decorating. I chose aqua and red as the two main colors but will be using all the colors to some extent. I am in love with these fabrics and can't wait to get in my room and start putting it all together. I made several buntings in different lengths to hang in different areas of the room. Here are the fabrics I chose.....

Here are some of the buntings hanging on my china cabinet...:) I think they look pretty sweet with my white pitcher collection!

I also recovered a chair I already had. I love the way it turned out! It will be so cute in my reading corner. I am working on a cute little bookshelf that will sit beside my chair in my reading corner and hope to share it next week. I got a great deal on it at $3! It is U.G.L.Y. right now but will be cute as a button when I'm finished with it!

For my home made it, I made these sweet little hanging solar lights using the $0.97 solar lights from Wal Mart and some old ceiling fan light shades. Here they are at night. They are so pretty hanging on my porch and in one of my trees. They are super cheap to make as well! If you want to see how I made these, you can see the tutorial on my home blog......Life On Willie Mae Lane

Sorry for the blurry photo, I took this one from a distance. They are really pretty hanging in my Red Leaf Maple!

If you haven't already, be sure to visit Hooty's Homeroom!

You can enter to win a $25 Master Card! Who couldn't use that right now...:) So, hop on over there right now and enter to win! Also be sure to check out her Monday Made It's...super cute!

Well, I'm off to see what wonderful things some of you made this week! Thanks for stopping by!

Blessings,

Sandy Hook, Secret Santa, & Scoot

I'm sure all of you are feeling the same way I am tonight....full of sorrow for the lives lost this morning at Sandy Hook Elementary in Connecticut. I didn't hear about it until just after I sent all my kiddos off after school. Heart wrenching.....:( I am so sad for the families of the children and the staff members, but also for the school "family".....as they lost 26 members of their family today. I can't imagine how life goes on after such a tragedy. Each person affected by this senseless act is in my thoughts and prayers. May God provide the peace and comfort they need.

Anyway, I had a really good day up until that point....

Secret Santa started today and I got the sweetest...no pun intended...gift! A gingerbread house kit! I can't wait to make it...:) I love Secret Santa....it is so fun picking out special little gifts for someone and also to get special little gifts every day for 5 days! My kiddos were so excited when Mr. Johnny (one of our custodians) delivered the package to me. They couldn't wait for me to open it! Isn't it adorable..:) I will post pics when I finish it!

I also had this sweet surprise in my mailbox today! One of our school board members always gives ever employee (admin, teachers, aides, lunchroom staff, custodians, and bus drivers) in the district a small gift....this was a nice metal tin full of yummy chocolates!

I know why it's called a sampled now! As you can see, I sampled several pieces! LOL!

After work, I had to run to Wal Mart and pick up some quick foods for my hubby and son to have over the weekend while I'm gone to Tallahassee to visit my daughter Miranda! While I was there, I spotted a pack of these.....

I have been looking for some so I can make some of these.....

Aren't they just adorable? I saw them on Pinterest! I'm hoping to find some things to put in them this weekend at one of my favorite stores.....

And....to finish up this post, my kids got to play SCOOT today. Mine really love it and it gets them up and moving! You can find the document and directions to play here. You can use it in so many ways...today we used it to review physical science vocabulary. I typed up the definitions and placed one on each desk and the kids had to write the words for each definition in the boxes. Sometimes I type up questions....either multiple choice or true/false and they write the answer in the box. Have you ever done this with your class? If so, please share how you use it...:)

Well, I better head to bed....it's 11:30 and I need to be up around 6 in the morning!
Count your blessings tonight and please remember Sandy Hook students and workers in your thoughts and prayers!

Be Blessed,

Pocket Chart Revamp a Little Bling, & a Freebie!

Peek-a-Boo!
That's what this little fella seems to be thinking! Isn't he a cutie? As some of you know from Sunday's post, I went for a mammogram yesterday and my Dr is an animal nut and huge supporter of the Humane Society. She always has a doggie or two in her office...:) This little guy is sitting on the receptionists desk and peeking out the sliding window......:)
He made me smile!

Some of you probably saw my Home Depot nail apron pocket chart I posted on Monday Made It yesterday! Well, when I went to the Dr yesterday, I also ran by JoAnn's and picked up some ribbon and a couple other goodies. Here is my updated pocket chart! I absolutely love the way it turned out!!!

Here's a close-up of the ribbon. Too cute!

I also picked up some stick-on rhinestones on clearance (not sure what I'm using them for....yet!), and some glittery 12x12 scrapbook papers to use on my Stellar Scientists board.

Here's a close-up of the glitter! I love all things sparkly....:)

Next up, I finally figured out how to attach an image of the labels I made....thanks to Sara over at Fourth Grade Fanatics. Click on the images to see them larger. I hope this works! If you are interested in having them....leave a comment and I will e-mail you the pdf. Sorry these are off center....still learning!

Oh....I am so excited that I now have 91 followers! I'm getting closer to 100 every day and will be doing a giveaway pretty soon...:) Well, that's all for today! I am off to work in my classroom.....ALL day! I am hoping to get all my junk things moved from the high school to my new school. My son is off work tomorrow so I have some muscles to help! I will post pictures of my progress. Tomorrow I hope to get my stuff moved in, arrange the desks in the room, and weed through all the science supplies and re-organize things to suit me.
Wish me luck....:)

Be Blessed!
